Hello Fellow Dawgs,
I'm in Central, NJ and I'm looking to purchase a decent, used scooter - my price range $800-1500 to spend. I've been checking CL and other local places. Just wanted to put my feelers out to my fellow Scooterdawgs as well.

1st question...how big? 50cc or 250cc if a 50 2 or 4 stroke?? what are you going to use it for....let us know and I'm sure we can give you some good advise and hopefully help you get just what your looking for.....Jon

Yes, that would help if I shared more info, wouldn't it?:-)))....Basic, local transportation 150-200cc range would be ideal. I love Kymco scooters which may be a little more than what I want to pay for but I'm open to negotiations. Interestingly, I did a google search for Kymco Grand Vista (my dream scooter) and there is powersports place in CO that is selling an 2009 GV for $1999. It was $2300 and they reduced to $1999. It has a little over 2300 miles on it. That price is unbelievable low I think and worth me looking into.
I'd also have to look into shipping/transport services. I'm still looking/searching though.

With that budget you could get a new scooter with a warranty instead of chancing on a most likely abused used one . I never have ridden a Kymco but from what all I have they make a really good scooter

Scooterbaby how handy are you? I'm in central NJ and have two 150cc scooters for sale. One is new but the store I purchased them from took parts to sell and fix customers scooters. Forgot brand names but the new one is red and needs shocks I have one on it now it matches but not sure if its the right one. I paid $1500 for the pair but I'm willing to talk. I can try a little harder to find shocks if your interested.

Here's an idea.
Print out the CO ad for that dream Grand Vista, and take it to your local dealer(s). See if they have anything comparable and are willing to price-match.

If your going for a new scooter or a used, see what they have at this site. Jimmy's a new york scooter club forum member and had a special Sym or kymco HD200 for 3,000 out the door--Was on a ride to E.Hampton, I think Jimmy was riding one, a big scooter, how tall are you?...may have what your looking for in stock. lol Savy

Hi everyone, look at all these responses! Thank you for responding. Well, as it turns out, I got a call from the place in CO last Friday and they sold the darn thing early in the week and they just didn't update their site so I'm still looking. I have to look at the links/pics that were sent. I'm 5/4 1/2 and I like the GV because I've sat on one and my feet are firmly planted on the ground. I also sat on a Roketa Touring scooter and it had the same look and feel.
I'm kinda handy but not much, I fix computers for a living but scooters are a different story..lol...let me see what you fine folks included in your posts and I'll let you know.

scooter baby let someone bet this .i have a 250 roketa scooter mc54 b.$1100.00 no less 9,000 plus miles i would ride this to cal, if need to be . i live in ohio .i have gone to minnesota minn ,to kentucky, to pa i know my bike this would make a great one for someone.iT has get up an go .there is a picture on scootdog some where on here .it has trailer hitch .i made a roof top car carrier popup camper that i pull behind it.for camping. trailer another 200 dallors.i know my bike .i would even bring it to your door. if the price is right.i would like a burgmen 400.thats way this is for sale.my bike is all decked out .not sure how to get pitures to you

That's a great price, I bought a pre-owned 09 GV and felt lucky to get it for $2500. And with 8000 mi. What a great ride, you won't be sorry.

Hello Everyone!
I just wanted to share an update. I went to look at a 2007 Lance scooter from someone who lives 5 miles from where I live. It's black/silver, has only 350 miles on it - the man that is selling it ended up getting the scooter from someone who owed him money and didn't have the cash. He initially got the scooter for his wife who ended up not wanting it. I test drove it today and fell in love with it.
I gave him a deposit and I will pick it up on Friday. He was asking $1200 but he dropped it down $150 for me. What makes this an added plus is that the seller is...a mechanic by trade. He works on cars, motorcyles, scooters so he offered servicing for me on the scooter. He already did the PDI on it, as well as the oil/gear change. I think I made out very well.

Welllllll....I thought about it and I decided not to get the Lance. Because it's a 150cc, I knew that i would outgrow it within a month and my last scooter, my Kymco Bet & Win was a 250 that was perfect for me. I traded emails w/pics of the scooter (looks sweet) and phone calls with djroe/Dan and I think him and I will be doing business next week when he gets back from his trip next week. His price was more than right:-)
I only have a few months until summer is over and I don't need anything brand new right now. I had a Roketa 150 Touring scooter before and I liked it so I'm getting same brand, color, but in a 250cc. This will hold me for a while.

Hello Dawgs,
I'm still looking....I would prefer to find a scooter that I don't have to put extra money for repairs before I actually ride it, so far the deals that I'm finding, work needs to be done on the scooter and I would prefer the scooter to be in full working order if possible:-))) I am still looking in the NJ area......my preference is a 250 but would consider 150 for the rest of the summer.....I am negoitable on the $ as well.
