Then have yourself a nice burger... With Heinz ketchup!
I got that.
(As this will probably be my last opportunity to do this here.) Thanks, Wutzthedeal! Glad you liked it!
Post midnight your time stiv625, only nine o'clock on the west coast. (but I must have gotten in just under the wire as it was closed when I went back.) See you at the new place. Turning the lights off on my way out.
Ya know Stiv, come to think of it, we could just keep rolling this out forever. P.S. Did you sign up at the new site?
3/3/13 4:47PM. Hey stiv we can make a 1950's style Si-fi movie entitled: "The Dawg That Would Not Die"
3/4/13 8:21AM PST So? Just set a time to pop in and post. (Can't imagine nobody thought of this.)
3/5/2013 8:16am PST Stiv I've been doing the same thing. As a lot of the technical knowhow in here are from people no longer (for one reason or another) around. and that would be hard (if not impossible) to get, if erased or otherwise lost.
P.S. What makes it all the more valuable is the fact that most of what got posted on here was socializing rather than technical stuff, which in my view is the real Gold.
3/5/2013 10:16am I know what you mean. What's the old saying? "You can never go home again?" The way it all turned out is pretty sad.
3/6/2013 9:27AM PST Stiv I'm sure the "attitude" part came from the train wreck way all this had to happen. Hopefully as things heal up it will get much better.

Gotta love milking those Tao Tao dollars.
POST midnight edit: Spandi how'd you defy the laws of physics, posting at 12:01 and junk
So I guess while you can't make threads or post replies, you can still edit past posts. Hmmmm..........
Hahaha post-post edit: Sounds good
3/3/13 - I'll start a log. The possibilities are endless, I wonder who will actually notice. I've got 273 other posts to go tinker with now too lol! I'm on itstheride w/ a new alias, I'm going to try to see what's up with SD,net too tho.
3/4/13 5:30 EST - it's gonna be tough, I already am forgetting to check back here haha. I wonder who else has caught on. Insert trendy topics, sequester, HIV baby cure, snow this week, SpaceX, meteorite, undefeated Blackhawks, sinkhole, MJ lawsuit, etc....
3/4/13 22:10 EST - Maybe they have, for all we know people are going ballistic changing all their past posts like I'm about to I'm still going through by hand and saving threads with important info I'll need again just in case something happens to them. It's been slow going, I wish there was a way to "Save All"
3/5 13:08 - There sure were some good times had here. It feels kinda like when my mom moved out of the house I grew up in. You can still ride by and take a peek from the street but it'll never be quite the same.
19:20 - You can't but that's okay, gotta move on sometimes. It is kinda sad but oh well, that's how life works sometimes I guess. I'll admit I haven't had the best attitude towards the new forum for some reason but it really should turn out to be everything and more living off of ScootDawg spirit!!!!
3/10 9:30 - Whoops, been out of town and neglected our little post-era SD run here. Hope you come back and see this eventually! I'm already finding myself warming up to the new forum as the weather warms up to prime riding here
the new place seems to be getting a warm welcome from all the active ScootDawg members, thanks, medman

Dang did you replace the fuel & vacuum lines? They come with unbelievably weak rubber. Could be that, fuel petcock issue maybe, or the carb. Any case, not good. Couldn't see why/how fuel would track it's way back up the intake with the vacuum pressure of a running engine.

I would be happy to make an account for you, I don't much care for the security thing either, it was something somebody came up with to cut down on spammers. You can send me your information in a private message and I'll make the account but I need an email, a screen name and a birth date, that should be enough.

Re: spring? « Result #14 on Mar 2, 2013, 10:18pm »
First off it is a very confusing subject, and im not good at explaining things but imo you are running way to heavy of weights so that needs to be fix first try 4-6 grams and see how you like it, then you can try a heavier spring but because you use 1000 1500 2000 spring doesnt mean you need heavier weights to use them, you really need to know how a cvt work the spring fights the roller in a way to speak, the spring is applying pressure to the clutch ramp plates to make your belt ride higher on the clutch or make it harder to reach a higher gear in a way it trying to down shift where the roller are try to up shift and drive the belt deeper into the clutch for a higher gear. I run 4 gram roller and 2000 spring with a 70cc kit i do 50+ top speed and will climb the largest mountain in va but i didnt find the perfect setup asking but by trying every combo i could do in the cvt(time consuming) not saying my setup will work for you or anyone else but i would try some lighter roller first and see how you like that its the easiest thing to do and is cheap

A New Beginning « Result #15 on Mar 2, 2013, 10:09pm »
Have read all of the posts in the last few hours and a lot of people are sad that things have went the way they have and for sure the last few weeks a roller coaster of different feelings and emotions to say the least.
There is no need to go into the what, why, and when all this happened, if you've been here at all you already know.
But through all of this the main thing to remember is this forum isn't dying by any means at all. Yes it's at different place and with a different name but the name itself came from here and has a meaning that it shares with the one and only Scootdawg.
The slogan here has always been "it's all about the ride" and that's why 'It Is The Ride" was chosen. Not only does the name carry on what was started years back here it reminds all of the beginning and that it is not ending.
All the memories, posts, etc. are still here linked to the new site, think of it as just an extension of what is here but also think of it as a re-birth, a new beginning.
With all this said I'll close by simply saying "It Is The Ride."

Re: 2010 Bashan 49.9cc Not Running « Result #21 on Mar 2, 2013, 9:15pm »
hey bro ive also got a bashan. If its sat for a while i would use some seafoam, or lucas oil. The gas may have gone bad from sitting. If this doesnt work clean the carb and get fresh gas. For the difficult start i would check the idle and make sure its idling high enough. If its too low it can be hard for it to start also. Good luck.

STATUS UPDATE:
This morning I drained the gas tank. The gallon "gallon +" I purchased from Autozone couldn't hold all the gas, so I used some plastic bottles. After they sat for a while I observed a non homogenous mixture!! Something else was in the gas. What was it? I don't know, I only used the first "gallon +" to refill the tank. Also purchased "sea foam fuel / engine treatment" 8oz. per gallon. $4.00, why not, I'll drink the kool-aid.
Cleaned out the petcock with carb cleaner.
Check out this new fuel filter. Far superior from the old one.
Cleaned the jets and carb again. Cleaning out anywhere I could spray the carb cleaner. Reassembled, readjusted the throttle / idle speed. Idled for 45 minutes, revving here and there.
Shortened the fuel and vac. lines to make a more streamlined, checked for binding and pinching throughout suspension travel. All good.
Put in new 94 octane gas.
And it all worked out. I took it for a 35 minute, around the block a bunch of times, different speeds, trying to simulate a commute to work. No issues.
Went 6 miles out. Let it set for 2 hours, started up fine, rode home, no issues, everything was perfect actually.
Perhaps it was bad gas, maybe the carb got dirty from the bad gas again, I don't know. I really don't. I thought back, and it was actually wet out every time the scooter started acting up and dying. I'm going to seal up all the electrical connections tomorrow, just to be sure.

Re: TaoTao EVO150 preliminary review « Result #30 on Mar 2, 2013, 7:37pm »
I'm pretty happy about my cruze. The only problems I have with it, is the auto enricher (or something) is set too high. The engine idle for the first 30 seconds to a minute, is at 1,5k RPM, making the car jerk forward as soon as it gets into gear (probably bad for the clutch).
That, the harder seats, the plastic interior (nothing different from all the other brands, in fact, the Cruze's interior looks just like a Hyundai Elantra or something). And the bad functioning media center buttons (fast forward/rewind don't work well at all).
Aside from that, it's seemingly a solid car to me.
I rode in the 1,8L NA, as well as the sonic, and I have to say the 1,4l Turbo feels nicer! Acceleration starts kicking in between 1500 and 2000 RPM. I found the Sonic 1,8L was the same as my Dodge Neon that I sold before. The Dodge Neon had a 2.0 Liter engine, 133BHP, the Sonic has 138BHP. The 1,4Turbo has 148BHP, gives you an edge over the other cars.
The MPG numbers are a lot better on the turbo models compared to the NA models. In fact, the cruze, under the same riding conditions, though being a lot larger and heavier than the Spark, has better overall gas mileage. In the city less, but it gains a lot on roads where one can ride continuously. It peaks at ~70MPG @ 35-40MPH; which is pretty freaking amazing, for a car! The 42MPG, for the eco, is on the highway, with AC on, riding 60MPH. If you go 55MPH, and turn off AC, it averages ~50MPG.
That's about as much as my honda VT750.
For that reason I'm less impressed with my 68MPG rating on my 150 EVO; and had hoped it would perhaps increase to 75+MPG, preferably 80+MPG. I probably will be able to get there with heavier rollers.

Re: spring? « Result #36 on Mar 2, 2013, 5:33pm »
i use 4 grams and 2000 torque spring and 2000 clutch spring shoots up real quick 9000-9500rpms through must of the power band and slowly goes up 10000 rpms cruising on flat ground any 2t scooter really should have 7 grams or under imo i have never used over 5.5 because it takes forever to get to good usable rpms but im 200 plus but the roller and torque spring oppose each other. So putting lighter weights in would be like putting a stiffer spring in or vice versa, but there is no way you should have 9 gram wieghts in your cvt that is way to heavy
yosemite i think your right i just put in 2000rpm springs and 1500rpm contra spring. i lost top end but the acceleration is good in the mid range,i still have 50cc engine i already using my v8 exhaust,i am putting my 72cc polini contesta this summer.so for now what weight roller i will use to have a top end on my 50cc sym dd50?

Need a Taotao ATM50-A1 speedo drive puck « Result #39 on Mar 2, 2013, 4:54pm »
Anyone know where I can order a speedo drive puck for a 2012 Taotao ATM50-A1 49cc? I tried the universal drive puck (labeled Sunny 50 by ShuHu) from scrappy dog, but it won't mate with the cable I've got. My cable has a square tip on the end, whereas the drive puck looks like it needs something slotted. Any web links are much appreciated.
Re: VIP future champion scooter wont start « Result #50 on Mar 2, 2013, 2:52pm »
Well i took it to the shop today had no other choice. While I was there I watched him check for the following which were okay, fuel and spark. So it has to be compression. He started to flood the carburetor, by covering the opening on the carburetor (air filter side) wanted to start but did not, also I noticed while he was doing this a little smoke coming from the air filter. I think it has something to do with the BBK I had him install when I bought the scooter. I think it may also need new rings or something of that nature.
